Migration news

On 20th April, two adult Mediterranean Gulls were seen on No3 bed. The first singing Grasshopper Warbler in the middle of No4 bed was noted this morning with many other warblers in song across the reserve, including Reed Warbler, Blackcap, Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler. Two Willow Tits were spotted on feeders at the new hide centre of No3 bed.

The warm weather has brought out many butterflies with good numbers of Peacocks, the first Speckled Woods in the past week as well as Orange Tips, a few Brimstones and a good scattering of Small Tortoiseshells.

Hirundines have been passing through but as yet no Swifts have been seen.
