WHERE ARE WE.
Location
The Woolston Eyes Reserve is situated to the east of Warrington between the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal
near Latchford Locks and the Thelwall Viaduct which carries the M6 Motorway over both the River and the Canal.
It is best approached by leaving the M6 at Junction 21 and taking the A57
signposted to Warrington. After some 200yds (200m),
turn left down Weir Lane and park by Woolston Weir (SJ654888). Please note that parking is
restricted to the Lane and please do not obstruct driveways or turnings. A footbridge across the guard weir
leads to the west of No.2 bed.
Access to the Reserve is also possible from the south of Warrington by crossing the canal
swing bridge on the Knutsford Road (A50), taking the right hand lane through Latchford and crossing Kingsway South into
Thelwall Lane. The road goes between New World factory on the left and the Locks on the right. Park by the first barrier
(parking here can be difficult). Key holders can negotiate two locked barriers to reach the car park by No.3 bed and the
footbridge. See maps below.
